Last week, my wife, myself, and the rest of our community woke up, clicked on the news, and learned that the latest mass shooting had happened in Dayton. More specifically, it happened in The Oregon District, in a spot where I stood countless times talking with friends while waiting for a hot dog before I headed home. It happened in a place where my wife and I would meet friends enjoy the local nightlife when we were dating.

It happened in front of businesses that Designs Now has serviced for 20 years. One of the pictures that we keep seeing in social media and even national news is one of our window graphics with bullet holes and shell fragments lodged in them.

This latest tragedy hit close to home… literally CLOSE TO HOME. We wanted to do something to help the families directly affected if we could.

This is our way.

When I think of a logo that represents Dayton, only one logo came to mind, the Flyer D. So, I proposed this idea to the university as a fundraiser. It turned out the Dayton Student Athletic Advisory Committee was looking for a way to raise money at the same time, so we partnered to make 1000 shirts … in 48 hours.

Needless to say, that wasn’t enough. So, we will begin our second printing today. This time, we will print a lot more and make them available to our customers as well. They will be $15 each and all of the profits will be given to the UD SAAC for their donation to The Dayton Foundation to aid victims of the recent shooting and tornadoes in Dayton.
